Summer is here and weekend getaways are calling! Spend a few days out of the city and get back to the land. Whether that’s on a guided wine tasting and berry picking tour or at a New York bagel festival, the gorgeous regions just outside NYC are beckoning with beauty, excitement and relaxation. Need some inspiration? Look no further.

June 22: Hudson Valley Wine & Strawberry Tour. Join us on a wine and strawberry farm fresh tour to the Hudson Valley’s Dutchess County – just 2 hours away from NYC! Hop aboard the bus leaving from Bryant Park. We’ll start the day at McEnroe Organic Farm in the midst of strawberry season. Pick your own strawberries, shop for yummy baked goods in their market or pony up to the King’s Highway Cider Shack to sip crisp New York Apple cider and bask in the summer sun on this gorgeous farm, known for its sustainability practices. Then, we’ll head to the renowned Millbrook Vineyards for a tasting of 5 wines as you soak up vineyard views and get a tour of the winery. We’ll cap off the day with a visit to Clinton Vineyards for a tour, a wine tasting and a farm-fresh dinner, sourced from local ingredients. You’ll return to the city refreshed, renewed and feeling sweet!

June 22: Sourland Mountain Festival. Sourland Mountain in Central Jersey is a “best kept secret” wilderness, just an hour from New York and Philly. At the Sourland Mountain Festival on June 22, you’ll discover the beauty of Central Jersey with live music and delicious local food and craft beverages. You’ll eat and drink some of Central Jersey’s finest offerings from Brick Farm Market, the Ryland Inn, and Unionville Vineyard and enjoy the music of the Mike Monterey Band, the Gumbo Gumbas, Daniela Cotton and more! Plus, there’ll be family activities and education about Central Jersey’s wildlife and human history. June 29 – 30: Somerville Craft Beer Fest. Take a quick train ride to Somerset County in Central Jersey for a festival, local craft beer fest! Take a paint and sip class, get wild at the dunk tank, join the beer pong tournament, and sample your choice of over 30 breweries represented! Live music on stage all day and great eats from local restaurants including Division Cafe, Court House Sub Shop, Good Donut Shop, and TasteofPolandNJ. Noon – 10pm Saturday, noon – 8pm Sunday. Firepit Fridays in Central New York. Spend a weekend exploring the outdoor adventures, farms, craft beverage scene and more in Central New York. Most Fridays this summer, you can head to Brewery Ommegang for Firepit Fridays. Enjoy cold beers, a roaring bonfire, and music by favorite local DJs and bands. These evenings feature free music from 7-10pm and food service is available until 9pm. It’s the perfect way to kick off a weekend of exploring in the area!

Aug. 11: Annual Bagel Festival. Head up to the scenic Sullivan Catskills for an annual festival celebrating everyone’s favorite carb, the bagel! Visit Monticello, “the bagel Capital,” for live music, the world’s longest bagel chain, bagel triathlon and street fair. While you’re in the area, there’s so much to explore in the Catskills! Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Woodstock Festival along the Dove Trail, explore the farmers markets and unique culinary experiences, even cozy up to award-winning alpacas at Rosehaven Alpacas.

Aug. 10 – 11: Ithaca Open Farm Days. Spend a weekend in Ithaca and Tompkins County, celebrating the amazing land in the region. Cuddle a family of goats and then taste the award-winning cheese produced on site. Walk the orchards and learn about the process of making heritage cider. Or maybe you want to immerse yourself in a world of plants at the Magic Garden? One weekend a year, farms not typically open to visitors located around the Ithaca area open their doors to the public during Open Farm Days! Farmers welcome in curious visitors, teaching them about their animals, plants and farm life. A two-day affair, the weekend begins on the East side of Cayuga Lake on Saturday, and then focuses on the West side on Sunday.
