Halloween & Harvest Festival Getaways

Halloween & Harvest Festival Getaways

Halloween season is here and we’re ready for some haunted houses, corn mazes, jack o’lanterns and more! There are so many day trip and weekend getaways to experience the spooky just outside NYC. Check them out below and start planning your weekend escape.

For a nearby Halloween celebration, take a day-trip to Westchester County for the annual Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze! The tri-state area’s biggest fall event creates a breathtaking display along an 18th century riverside landscape…all out of 7,000+ illuminated jack o’lanterns! Thousands of people attend every year, book your spot before they sell out! AND THEY WILL! Take Metro North Railroad to Croton-Harmon, cab 5 minutes to Van Cortlandt Manor. Now through November 24th.

Take a weekend getaway to Brew Central in Central New York for a Halloween celebration filled with brews and boos. Head to Empire Brewing Company for fun, festivities, and the chance to win free BEER FOR A YEAR! The Empire Brewing Company staff will vote on best patron costume. Winner receives a full growler, every month for an entire year, of their preferred Empire liquid! October 31st.

Head up to the Catskills in Sullivan County for spooktacular fall weekend! Part of New York’s Haunted History Trail, Burn Brae Mansion welcomes all to their Halloween Festival and Dark Forest Fright Walk. Enjoy beer and cider from Shrewd Fox Brewery; shop for food, crafts, and Halloween items too. October 19 – 20. Please note, the Fright Walk is not recommended for small children and does require trail walking.

And, of course, what is Halloween without the sweet celebration of witches and wizards. Harry Potter nerd or not, plan a weekend getaway to Ithaca, NY for the ultimate Wizarding Weekend! October 26-28, partake in a pumpkin carving contest, a Quidditch pitch, wand dueling, human chess, magic classes and more all weekend long. No car? You can grab the Greyhound Bus straight to Ithaca!
