Let’s celebrate the coming of fall foliage, fruiting orchards and autumnal goodness! What better way than with all things APPLE! EscapeMaker.com, New York’s premiere guide to local getaways, day trips and farm escapes, will host its 4th Annual “Applepalooza” presented by the New York Apple Association in conjunction with Fulton Stall Market’s Sunday farmers market at Pier 16 & 17.
Sunday, September 30th from 11:00am – 5:30pm
FREE! ALL AGES!
This year’s event, “Applepalooza: Craft Wine, Cider and Beverage Fest” will not only be celebrating New York State-grown apples and made apple products, but also New York cider, hard cider, wine from along the beautiful Shawangunk Wine Trail and other New York state craft beverages. Wineries like Whitecliff Vineyard, Glorie Winery, Palaia Winery, Brotherhood Winery(America’s oldest winery, established in 1839) and craft beverage makers like Hudson Valley Farm House Cider will be sampling, selling and sharing local knowledge about their destinations to prospective visitors.
In addition, Fulton Stall Market’s (located at 91 South St.) regular Sunday farmers market on Pier 17 will be in full swing and attendees can stock up on local fruits, veggies, honey, soaps, artisanal sauces, cookies, brittle and beyond. The historic South Street Seaport Museum will also be on hand with info about the historic ships docked at the pier, museum events and guided walking tours — just a stone’s throw from Pier 16 for curious first-timers to the Seaport.
The free event is a family-friendly fall celebration and, although only attendees 21 and over can sample or buy alcoholic beverages, there will be fresh apples aplenty, apple treats to sample, live music, games and cider donut-eating contests for all ages. EscapeMaker.com will be providing general agritourism information about planning hands-on farm escapes to Westchester County in the Hudson Valley, Ithaca & Tompkins County in the Finger Lakes, craft beverage trails and local food excursions in Central New York and the Sullivan Catskills, and pick-your-own apple and farm animal feeding fall tours to Dutchess County – both by direct bus from Midtown and train via Metro-North Railroad.
The event is presented by the New York Apple Association and Fulton Stall Market and sponsored by Hudson Valley Wine Magazine, New York Cider Association, The Shawangunk Wine Trail, Metro-North Railroad, Edible Magazine and the South Street Seaport Museum.
