Dear
EscapeMakers -- With summer on the horizon and your search for
a sunny getaway underway, look no further than the Finger Lakes.
From picturesque farm-scapes stretching across the rolling hills,
to waterfalls carving through the glacial rock
no matter
where you are, Ithaca
truly is 'Gorges'.
Have you ever seen a bison in real life? How about an alpaca?
Well, this is your opportunity!

Visit
Ithaca for Open
Farm Days, August 10-11th. Cuddle a family of goats and
then taste the award-winning cheese produced on site. Walk the
orchards and learn about the process of making heritage
cider. Or maybe you want to immerse yourself in a world of
plants at the Magic Garden?
One
weekend a year, farms not typically open to visitors located around
the Ithaca area open their doors to the public during Open
Farm Days! Farmers welcome in curious visitors, teaching them
about their animals, plants and farm life. A two-day affair, the
weekend begins on the East side of Cayuga
Lake on Saturday, and then focuses on the West side on
Sunday. Meet the hard-working farmers, experience the culture
and the lifestyles that feed this colorful community.
A
weekend of family friendly and FREE farm fun. Stretch your wings,
take a deep breath of fresh air, wake up to the songs of birds
and the rustling of leaves outside the window of your
farm B&B. While visiting enjoy your evenings exploring
some of Ithaca's farm-to-fork
restaurants, showcasing the region's best locally produced
products: cider, cheese, vegetables, wine, you name it!
Hike
the gorges,
swim in the watering holes, taste the terroir of the land, and
meet its caretakers. Ithaca and Tompkins county farmers deeply
invest in our Earth, the animals we share the land with, and the
soil underneath our feet. That's why this community works so hard
to preserve
and enjoy our natural lands.
Attending
events such as these allows farmers to continue using sustainable
and regenerative practices which benefit every being on the planet.
