How can you support all our farmers, food, wine, craft beverage producers and local travel destinations during this uncertain time? If you can’t travel locally, buy their products online! They rely on your business to keep food on their tables just like we rely on their businesses to literally keep food on OUR tables. Crowds are low, prices are right, the air is fresh and spirits are high! So take a drive, pick up curbside from a farm store or tasting room, and shop shop shop online! Take sound precautions, wash your hands, stay home if you’re ill and check the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) website for latest updates.

We will be highlighting specific ways and businesses you can support weekly right here at the EscapeMaker Blog. Check out below for a few simple ways to help the local gems we’ve all come to love so much…and check back next week for more ideas. In the meantime, follow us on InstagramFacebook and Twitter for real-time updates and ideas to help support local businesses around us. We’re all in this together… support agritourism!

Farmers Market Alternative Sales: Keep supporting the local farmers who are working their tails off to keep supplying New Yorkers (and beyond) fresh, amazing food! Check out the extensive list of GrowNYC farmers who are offering alternative sales methods (delivery, curbside pick-up, shipping, etc.).

Get Creative: Explore the Sullivan Catskills Dove Trail from your home. You can then create your own Sullivan Catskills Dove design and submit it to receive a fun prize. Inspiration can be found by visiting the SCVA’s online virtual Dove Trail (link in Sullivan Catskills Instagram bio). Those who want to go the extra step and bring their masterpiece to life, can create a 3-D version—5 of the most creative sculptures will win a Sullivan Catskills gift bag! ⠀

Take Out: While we’re all encouraged to stay home to keep healthy, our local restaurants are struggling. But YOU can help! Order your favorite drinks, meals, and desserts to help keep our economy moving. Many of your favorite places are open, ready to serve, and utilizing best practices for social distancing whether you choose pick-up or delivery. Check out open Sullivan Catskills restaurants (link in their Instagram bio) and tag your own take out photos (#TakeOutSullivanCatskills) to spread the word.⠀

Gift Local: Grab some of the famous, best-selling Beekman 1802 Mercantile food items (and cookbooks!) for Mom this year. When you shop these artisan products, you’re supporting small food makers in the Northeast. Head to their  website and check it out! ⠀

Sawkill Farm

Curb to Table: The Hudson Valley’s Sawkill Farm is still open and here to support you! So keep supporting them. They are accepting orders for curbside pick up at the farm store and at their GrowNYC Greenmarkets. Please call the farm store at (845) 835-8142 or use the online form on their website to place your order. ⠀

Plant Pick-Up: The Wilklow Orchards greenhouses are getting greener! They have added plants to the list of available items for farm pickup or local delivery. Check out what’s available on Instagram. Pickups and deliveries are available Fridays. They will deliver within 20 miles from their farm. For delivery there is a $20 min and $5 delivery charge. Please email your order to WilklowOrders@gmail.com.

Keep Dreaming: Few regions are defined by as much natural beauty as the Finger Lakes. No time like the present to dream and plan the adventures and escapes you will take once travel restrictions have been lifted! The gorgeous Finger Lakes Wine Country is high on the list, wouldn’t you say?
