Wellspring Forest Farm & School, located in Trumansburg, NY in Tompkins County (in the Ithaca region) is a farm and homestead regenerating the landscape to be healthy, diverse and resilient. The farm demonstrates techniques that restore forest ecosystems, build soil, and preserve water quality while producing food, medicine and materials. Each enterprise on the farm is designed to be economically profitable, yet no system works in isolation, as all things in nature are connected.
The school is a place that draws upon a rich community of teachers and mentors in support of a social mission to reconnect people of all ages to forest ecosystems and equip them with the knowledge and tools to become active stewards of woodland resources.
Elizabeth and Steve Gabriel started the farm & school in 2012 after many years working in farming production and education. In addition to running the farm, they are involved with several efforts within the Finger Lakes Region of NY to improve the sustainability and equity of the food system.
