Want more information on what to do?

Dear EscapeMakers,

Raise your hand if you would NOT be interested in perusing one of the "Top Ten Beer Festivals in the America." No one moved. Not surprising. You’re in luck, as the Empire State Brewing & Music Festival on July 10 in Clinton Square just so happens to be available exclusively for your perusal. But be warned: this is not your typical beer festival. Partake in a delectable sampling of over 300 kinds of beer, with 75 national and international brewery reps on hand, and five bands on two stages.

"When one festival ends, another festival opens." That may not be the official saying, but it works for summertime in the ‘Cuse. Funk it on down to the NYS Blues Festival July 11-12 in Clinton Square. Who you gonna call to come with you? Don’t call Ghostbuster Dan Akroyd because he’ll already be there – that Blues Brother will be emceeing Saturday night!

While you’re strolling Downtown at these sweet festivals, saunter into, sip and socialize at our local breweries nearby, like Clark’s Ale House and The Blue Tusk, two listed on a, ahem, list of "100 places to have a beer before you die."

Although Syracuse has a whole heck of a lot to offer, our neat neighboring towns and villages, like Skaneateles, are also a buzz. Recently named one of the top summer destinations by the NY Post, Skaneateles has a ton of hot happenings. Check out the village’s joyous July events:

50th Annual Antique and Craft Show, July 10-11 at Austin Park Pavilion.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the annual gala sponsored by the Skaneateles Area Arts Council on July 12 on the lawn at Stella Maris.
Curbstone Festival & Sidewalk Sales July 16-18 for creative kids’ crafts and excellent shopping in the Village of Skaneateles.
• Free Syracuse Symphony Summer Concert July 22, at Austin Park Pavilion.
Antique and Classic Boat Show, July 24-26 in Clift Park. Check out over 80 antique and classic boats.
Rhythm, Blues & BBQ Fest, July 26 on the lawn of the Sherwood Inn.

Cruise back to the ‘Cuse to rev your engine for the 2009 Syracuse Nationals, July 17-19 at the Empire Expo Center at the NYS Fairgrounds. Can you believe this year is their 10th anniversary? Time flies when you’re flying by in a hot rod! Come see some rocking roadsters, new and old – 6,000 to be exact! – and watch flame throwers, tractor-pulls, burnouts and other riveting demos like you’ve only seen in YouTube videos. This year, you might even run into some notorious superheroes and villains: Batman (Adam West) and Catwoman (Julie Newmar) will be there.

While you’re touring Skaneateles’s fun summer events, why not hop on a Mid-Lakes Navigation boat cruise to fully experience the area, on land and water?

Awesome local honky tonk joint, the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, won a contest sponsored by ABC’s "Good Morning America Weekend" for the best barbecue in the US! ABC’s crew was here in the ‘Cuse. The show’s anchors were also "in" town during the live remote.
